Our family story - The Baggers Story!

Baggers - or how it used to be named was first launch in 1988 by my mum Angela McLean.

Growing up on a farm, my sister Jessica & I were constantly getting muddy. Sick of the ever increasing washing pile and to keep us clean and dry our mum designed some waterproofs for us to wear, with a bag for them to go in! Kids being kids the bags were always getting lost, so the bag was then attached to the waterproofs and Baggers was born!

Baggers grew nationally so quickly with a £2 million pound turnover and working along side national retailers and brands like Heinz, where we did an on pack promotion!

Essentially Baggers became a victim of it’s own success as it grew too big too quickly and so ceased trading in 1995.

In 2012 Angela and now the grown up Jessica re-launched the business, Baggers Originals. 

Baggers Originals has appeared on Dragons’ Den - where we received an investment offering from Deborah Meaden & Peter Jones, in huge retailers such a Fenwick and we are the first brand to ever collaborate with retail giant Monsoon. We were given their heritage floral print, branded and sold nationally in Monsoon stores as ‘Baggers at Monsoon’.

With Jessica now having children of her own the company is now ran by younger sister Stephanie. Keeping the business in the family and providing fun for kids and practical clothing for mums!
